About Traveling to Belize

Most visitors do not need a visa for stays up to 30 days. This includes travelers from the US, Canada, the UK, EU, and many Commonwealth countries. Just ensure your passport is valid for at least 6 months beyond your intended stay.

Most resorts, hotels, and cafes offer Wi-Fi, and mobile service is available through Digi and Smart (the two main providers). Local SIM cards are easy to purchase if you want mobile data during your stay.

  • Water taxis: Ideal for island hopping.

Tap water is treated in many places but it's safest to drink bottled or filtered water, especially in rural areas.

Belizean cuisine is a delicious fusion of Caribbean, Latin, and Mayan influences. Fresh seafood, rice and beans, tropical fruits, and spicy stews are local favorites. Food is generally safe to eat, even from street vendors, though use your best judgment.
